Who we are

Our team comprises of experts in STEM and aviation and we work with a large group of volunteers, including STEM Ambassadors, and other STEM focused organisations and professionals in order to carry out our charities activities. Just like our volunteers, our trustees, shown below, also donate their time and expertise alongside their own work or business commitments.

Geoff Coxon is a university lecturer enabling students to become pharmacists as well as having a research group developing new medicines. In the latter role he has advised the UK government of science policy, published scientific books, papers and patents. Passionate about aviation he always wanted to be a fighter pilot but after flying Bulldogs in the University of Wales Air Squadron, it was not to be. So it really wasn't a surprise that after becoming a member of the Newcastle Jet Provost Group that the idea to link Neil McCarthy's jet display to science and engineering workshops was born.

Barry Ford is the co-owner of aircraft detailing company WingWaxers Florida. Spending a large proportion of the year in the United States, he has helped build a business that is focussed on using the latest technologies and engineering techniques to detail and preserve both old and new aircraft. He is also ex RAF ground crew working on Hawks, Hunters, Phantoms, Jet Provosts and Tornados. It's therefore no surprise that in Florida he is also the owner of a Scottish Aviation Bulldog and Jet Provost T5B.

Mary Ford is the other component of WingWaxers Florida helping build the business to where it is today. She also has significant experience from UK academic research ensuring best and safe practice of complex scientific apparatus. She also was instrumental in the management of a large UK wide research consortium developing new medicines to treat tuberculosis and brings this experience to help the charities efforts.
