Communities

Our workshops and events are aimed at young people and their families and can have enormous benefits to people and their communities, such as:

  • Bringing community groups together
  • Bridging the gaps between different ages groups and cultures
  • Enabling people to develop communication skills and build confidence
  • Build links between industry and the community
  • Provide exciting events to help showcase a community project, festival of local attraction
  • Help develop the experience and employability of young people and unemployed by enabling them to gain experience as volunteers at events

If you think you would like to work with us, please get in touch at our CONTACTS US page and we can start discussing how we can help you. This may even include us writing grant applications with you for funding or designing events with you to fit with your community needs or existing projects.

Below is an example of how we helped to make communities stronger by bridging social barriers associated with age difference between the old and the young and also allowing young people to enjoy new experiences by using our jet and STEM workshops as a platform to do this.

On 30th May 2014 at Prestwick Airport we teamed up with the Ayrshire Hospice and the Royal Voluntary Service (Ayrshire, Ardrossan and a Renfrew Hub) to hold intergenerational STEM workshops with primary school childrem from Prestwick and Ardrossan. We even had Sean O'Kane from the 80's & 90's gameshow "interceptor" as a special guest to delivery the Royal Voluntary Service very own Commonwealth Games baton. What a day it was with amazing fun, lots of interaction and even some science & engineering too. It also created lasting memories, changes in perception and scope to do much more of this work in the future.
