Our teaching packs and events can be used to aid school children from primary age through to A-Levels and Advanced Highers. Our events complement and enhance the learning outcomes and objectives of the Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland, the National Curriculum and also those of independent schools. Our two promotional movies below illustrate this perfectly.
Parents - learning can be enhanced significantly with curriculum linked activities outside school. If you have found our activities interesting then you can also get involved joining your child when they use their education packs following one of our events. So why not ask the school if they have heard about us and would like to work with us?
Teachers - if you would like to work with us, either for a school visit or for one of our larger events with our jet, please contact us at our CONTACTS US page. We will then be able to discuss how we can work with you. If we can, then typically the process is as follows.
- We will send out a pre-visit or pre-event education pack
- In the SKYLAB pupils will interact with STEM experts and complete a series of workshops. Here they will build various types of model aircraft and then, at one of our larger events, see what they have learned for real with an aircraft display specifically linked to our education packs and workshops. You can see movies taken from one of our large events below.
- The pupils will leave with follow up work or tasks where they can use their education pack or model aircraft they built in the workshops. These can link to topics or projects currently being taught at the school, extra-curricular events or simply be encouraged out of school in the home environment with friends and family. Of course, pupils will be able to use our online videos of our jet walk round introduction and jet display to bring to life, or relive, what they have done in the SKYLAB.
Don't forget, our experts are all security checked to enable them to work with young people, and if not, we can do this via the charity. We also have public liability event insurance up to £2 million should this be required.
Below, Kingcase Primary School, Prestwick, South Ayrshire, has used our education pack as a basis for a "Flight" project leading up to a visit from us to work with P4 and P5 pupils for STEM week in April 2014.
